The terrorist bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993, sent smoke throughout this 800 room hotel. Restoration efforts were performed simultaneously while working on the final phase of the World Trade Center project.  As a result of the bombing, located in the subterranean parking facilities, the vertical blast directly impacted the lower floor ballroom and meeting room areas inclusive of the retail shops and restaurants. Complicating the project, restoration scheduling had to accommodate the structural inspections by engineering experts, as well as the investigation process conducted by the ATF as lead investigators for the government.
