Colorado State University (CSU), Fort Collins, CO
Retained by insurer group in 1997 to coordinate eight diverse specialty contractors hired to restore 39 buildings on campus after the Poudre River flooded. Wrote scopes and critical paths for all projects, and negotiated pricing which realized savings of $3 million. Completed work a week earlier than original estimates given by independent contractors.
C.W. Post Library (LIU), Long Island, NY
A Builders Risk fire, 1987, with smoke damage to the enormous one million-volume Schwartz Library. Wrote scope and helped coordinate efforts to perform restoration to the building, contents, high-tech equipment and books while library operations continued uninterrupted. Careful coordination of the scope of work and timeline were essential as there were environmental issues related to asbestos abatement.
Dillard University, New Orleans, LA
Hurricane Katrina made her mark in 2005 with wind driven rain and rising water from levy failures, causing significant damage to classrooms and dormitory facilities on the campus located south of the downtown New Orleans area. Moderate demolition of directly impacted structural finishes was utilized, followed by structural drying and decontamination of the affected areas.
Duffy Science Center, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada
In 1994, wrote Scope of Work overseeing five local companies who were making very little progress in their cleanup restoration efforts. Set a timeline to finish the project in just 14 days, three weeks earlier than the local companies had projected.
Hunter Library, Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC
In 1987, The Hunter Library sustained varying degrees of smoke and water damage. Scope included interior demolition, replacing suspended ceiling and grid systems, the decontamination of all structural components and all contents including high-tech equipment, books, microfilm and microfiche.
Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia
Brought in as Consultant in 1995, following chemical fire in campus science and laboratory facilities inclusive of Class 100 Clean room areas. Also performed the condition assessment and restoration of the laboratory equipment.
Morgan Library, Colorado State University (CSU), Fort Collins, CO
This unprecedented restoration project of the university’s Morgan Library spanned 1997 – 1999. The work entailed refurbishing 500,000 volumes of irreplaceable research journals and periodicals, enabling the library to retain its position as one of ten accredited research libraries in the U.S. The complex scope of work was accomplished utilizing 200 workers per day to catalogue damaged volumes, determine triage conditions on a per volume basis, and coordinate the receipt and insertion of damaged pages from multiple sources prior to rebinding the volumes, Dewey labeling, and restacking in the restored facility.
Tulane University, New Orleans, LA
A unique project dehumidifying Egyptian mummies! Addressed damages in 1998 incurred from a fire in the Law Library, and in the Library and Research Facility. Designed and managed 240,000 sq. ft. of space, and 3,000 cu. ft. of documents. The successful work included dehumidification of six floors of the library, restoring legal documents and books impacted by smoke, water damage and mold, and developing a system to dehumidify two Egyptian Mummies. Project took five weeks, and cost over $2 million. The valuation of the saved mummies was defined as priceless.
University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM
Large underground library flooded in 2004 due to frozen plumbing lines during a hard freeze, and a 15 hour power failure by the City of Albuquerque. Over 600,000 volumes of books were affected by direct and indirect water. Wrote the SOW, Clerked and Project Managed.
Westmoore High School, Moore OK
In 1998, Westmoore High was hit with an F-5 Tornado. Project Managed and wrote SOW, which included dehumidification and long-term climate control of 400,000 sq. ft.
Designed a dehumid- ification protocol and a long-term temporary HVAC control system to prevent the structure from molding during the restoration. The project was completed in four months.
